Independently he has run many participatory projects in educational and community settings using the gamelan, an ideal vehicle for developing group cooperation, creativity, rhythm and listening awareness, particularly with people considered, or who consider themselves to be 'non-musicians'. He worked at the Limoux psychiatric hospital 2007 - 2015 using gamelan as well as world percussion, voices and music technology to encourage creative expression with long-term patients. His home-made gamelan will be at the heart of a major project with Saumur music school 2025-26.
